Pakistan is batting first in this do-or-die match for them where they not just have to beat Netherlands but also need to beat them by a sufficient margin so that they overtake the dutch on the Net Run Rate count. Remember that the Dutch beat England in the first match, and Pakistan lost their match to England.

Pakistan is fast moving towards a 180+ score and if they can do that, that should put them in a good position. However, for them winning is not sufficient, and it is imperative that their opening bowlers strike early so that the Netherlands innings never really gets off.

Unlike in their last match, Bangladesh will start as clear favourites. In spite of their drubbing at the hands of India in their cup opener, they showed enough signs of brilliance, and Ireland shouldn’t be much of a problem for the Bangla Tigers.

Ireland will look back to the limited overs World Cup in West Indies for inspiration where they upset the much superior opposition Pakistan to send the Asian team packing out of the tournament. And in T20 cricket, an upset is never too far away.

I am eagerly looking forward to a great innings from Mohammad Ashraful – cricket fans the world over are waiting for this batsman to come good more consistently. We all know what he can do when he does. But so far the good innings have been very few and far between. Can we expect one tomorrow?

England face a do-or-die situation against an unpredictable Pakistani side too early in the tournament for the comfort of the home side. One never knows what to expect from the Pakistanis – remember that they finished runner-up in the last World Cup and were only one shot away from victory. FOr England Kevin Pietersen will be back , and that is good new for the home side. But still looking at the teams on paper, it is difficult to pick a clear favourite though the home ground advantage should give England the edge.
