Sri Lanka have won the toss and elected to bat against Bangladesh. With the toss becoming a crucial factor in the Asia Cup, that only makes the task that much more difficult for Bangladesh who were not fancied to win the match in the first place. Teams batting second under the floodlights at the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium have struggled thus far in the tournament. It is only when the target has been really low that they have been able to overcome this disadvantage and still win the match.

Bangladesh would again be heavily relying on the brilliance of Tamim Iqbal at the top to provide them with a good start when they chase. But first of all they would be hoping that their bowlers can limit Lanka to a modest score. Anything more than 250 and it might well be too much for the modest Bangladeshi batting attack.

An Indian team under much pressure and scrutiny will take on Bangladesh in their opening game of the Asia Cup 2010 which starts in a little over an hour from now. The twin losses to Zimbabwe in the triangular have been difficult to digest and have not gone down well with the fans and experts alike. None of the young Indian batting talents could prove their good and deliver, and that indeed is a cause of worry.

There is more teeth in the Indian team for the Asia Cup though with the return of the biggies to the fold. Regular openers Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir will begin India’s batting campaign, and the bowling department sees the return of Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra.

Bangladesh on the other hand will feel they have more than a chance seeing India’s recent performances. On the England tour Bangladesh lost but were definitely not disgraced. They are beginning to show that they belong in the top league of the cricket nations. Can they continue with their good form and put India under pressure tonight?

Asia Cup | Match 1: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka | Date: 15th June 2010 | Venue: Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Sri Lanka | Watch the Live Telecast of the Asia Cup match on Ten Sports from 2:30 pm India/Sri Lanka Time (0900 hours GMT). In Sri Lanka the match can be seen live on Rupavahini.

An interesting looking Pakistan side will open their Asia Cup 2010 campaign againt the home team Sri Lanka today. With the return of Shoaib Akhtar and Shoaib Malik the Pakistan team looks that much more formidable on paper but the question that will be answered today is: ‘Are they in shape for the rigours of International Cricket?’

Sri Lanka has been a dormant force in the Asia Cups since the very start of the tournament in 1984. Alongwith India they have won the continental championship 4 times each. And amongst the three big teams – India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, the Lankans do indeed look the best and the most settled cricket team at the moment. They have just returned from a successful triseries win in Zimbabwe where Indians were humiliated by a weak Zimbabwe side twice.

Today’s game would be interesting in more ways than one. It will also decide if Shoaib Akhtar may be a part of the Pakistan’s ODI team nucleus for the next year’s World Cup in the sub-continent. So don’t miss the live streaming cricket action from Sri Lanka today.
