Sri Lanka have won the toss and elected to bat against Bangladesh. With the toss becoming a crucial factor in the Asia Cup, that only makes the task that much more difficult for Bangladesh who were not fancied to win the match in the first place. Bangladesh would again be heavily relying on the brilliance of Tamim Iqbal at the top to provide them with a good start when they chase. But first of all they would be hoping that their bowlers can limit Lanka to a modest score. Anything more than 250 and it might well be too much for the modest Bangladeshi batting attack.

An Indian team under much pressure and scrutiny will take on Bangladesh in their opening game of the Asia Cup 2010 which starts in a little over an hour from now. The twin losses to Zimbabwe in the triangular have been difficult to digest and have not gone down well with the fans and experts alike. None of the young Indian batting talents could prove their good and deliver, and that indeed is a cause of worry.

There is more teeth in the Indian team for the Asia Cup though with the return of the biggies to the fold. Regular openers Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir will begin India’s batting campaign, and the bowling department sees the return of Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra.

Bangladesh on the other hand will feel they have more than a chance seeing India’s recent performances. On the England tour Bangladesh lost but were definitely not disgraced.
