New Zealand have won the toss and elected to bat first in the 1st Twenty20 International Match against Australia about to begin in the New Zealand capital city of Wellington. Australia have had a defeatless summer so far, beating Pakistan and West Indies without any glitches. But New Zealand in their own backyard might be a trickier challenge than those two.

However, New Zealand have so far not done too well in Twenty20 Internationals, and need to learn the art of playing this shortest version of the game. Shane Bond comes back into the team today, and that should bolster the home team’s attack.

Watch the Live Streaming of the match from Wellington to see if Australia can continue with their defeatless streak this summer.

After sterling displays in the Test series, it must have been a big jolt for India to be handed a defeat by a considerable margin in the 1st Twenty20 match of the series at Nagpur. What would be troubling the Indian cricket think-tank even more would be the consistency with which India are losing T20 matches. For a team which won the inaugural T20 world cup and hosts the IPL, the world’s premier T20 tournament, it is a surprising fact. If you add to it the fact that India are now the world’s no.1 ranked Test team, it becomes even more difficult to understand and explain India’s failures in the 20 over games.

Followers of Sri Lanka cricket would not have been too surprised to see their team make a strong back after the twin defeats in the test series. Sri Lanka have never won a test match in India, and in the last T20 World Cup, the team reached the final. Look closely at the Lanka team and you will see that they have a great line-up that suits the needs of T20 cricket.

Can Lanka do it again tonight? Watch the live telecast or the live streaming cricket tonight from 5:30 pm IST to find out.

After the drubbing given to Sri Lanka in the test series India would enter the Twenty20 series as favourites. Further India are playing at home and the Indian batsmen are in their best forms, and isn’t T20 all about batting? But can Sri Lanka be ruled out? No, if you look at India’s immediate past performance in this shortest version of cricket. In the last 9 matches that India have played, they have won only 3 and two of those three victories came against Ireland and Bangladesh. Also, the fact that the team compositions will change quite a bit for both sides. Sanath Jayasurya comes back to the Sri Lanka XI and we all know how lethal he can be, and he has especially been good against past Indian bowling attacks. He alongwith the very dangerous Dilshan can be more than a handful, and a few good overs at the beginning can dramatically alter the course of a Twenty20 match. So it should definitely be a more competitive affair than the test matches.
