India vs Australia – Match Preview:

From what we have seen of the 8 teams that have made it to the Super Eight, these two teams – India and Australia, have looked the best of the whole lot so far. India were clinical in their wins over South Africa and Afghanistan. Australia was convincing in its wins over Bangladesh and Pakistan, though Bangladesh did manage to make Australia struggle at one point when the Aussies were batting.

A team will need to win 2 out of the 3 matches it plays in the Super 8 to make it through to the semi-final of the ICC World Twenty20. Since today is the toughest match for both the teams, a win today will put the winning team in a very strong position indeed.

It is also likely that both these teams will make it to the semi-finals and therefore today’s result will also give a psychological advantage to the victorious team.

Michael Clarke, the Australia capain has already revealed his game plan – they will direct a lot of short-pitch stuff at the Indian batsmen and try and bounce India out. India have been known to be weak in this area, and this ploy may well work.

On the other hand, the pitches in the Caribbean have also suited the spinners. In Harbhajan Singh, India have one of the best spinners in world cricket today. He will be ably assisted by Ravinder Jadeja, Yusuf Pathan/Rohit Sharma and Yuvraj Singh. Spin will be India’s trump card.

So it is likely to be a case of which of the two sets of batsmen cope better with what the opposition throws at them. It is already appearing to be a mouth-watering proposotion, and I cannot wait for it to be 7:00 pm here so that I can glue myself to the couch for the live telecast.
