Twenty20 World Cup 2009 | Match: England vs Pakistan | Date: 7th June | Venue: Trentbridge Nottingham | Live Telecast on Star Cricket

Match Score, Summary and Highlights of the match:

England batted first and scored a massive 185/5. The highlights of the England innings was a brilliant 58 off 38 balls by Kevin Pietersen, who had to miss the first match against the Netherlands. For Pakistan, Saeed Ajmal was the pick of the bowlers collecting 2 wickets and giving off just 23 runs off his 4 overs.

In reply, the Pakistan Innings never really got going and they could only manage just 137 runs off their alloted 20 overs. Younis Khan top scored with 46, while Stuart Broad finished with 3 wickets for England. Luke Wright was awarded the man of the match for his good all-round performance.

The win means England who were facing the prospect of crashing out of the World Cup now become the first team to qualify for the next round. Pakistan on the other hand have a huge task on their hand, and if Netherlands don’t get too excited, they are the ones who now look more likely to get through to the next round.
