India vs New Zealand 3rd One Day Highlights – Tendulkar Innings
India vs New Zealand, 3rd One Day, AMI Stadium, Christchurch – 8th March 2009
I have never cursed myself more for sleeping through a cricket innings. India batted first in the 3rd one day today againgst New Zealand and amassed 392 runs, no less! Sachin Tendulkar played a mammothly entertaining innings and scored 163 – at that stage he was threatening Saeed Anwar’s world record score of 194 but he pulled a stomach muscle in the 45th over and had to retire hurt. In all, Tendulkar 16 boundaries and 5 sixes. The highlight of his innings was a slogsweep off Mills over the midwicket boundary.
Yuvraj Singh was at his destructive best hitting 87. The highlight of his innings were hissix sixes. Suresh Raina who didnt get much time at the crease scored as many as five 6’s in his innnings of 36.
New Zealand badly missed the services of captain Daniel Vettori whose economical spinners would definitely have stemmed the flow of runs in those crucial middle overs.
New Zealand are currently chasing and not doing a bad job of it. Chasing a score of 392 is aways a challenge, but they are placed at 178 for 1 after 24 overs. Jesse Ryder who was dropped by Dhoni in his forties is now nearing his century, and we have a great match on our hands.
