Finally you should be able to see live cricket action from the Caribbean. After the farce at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, the ICC has given the green signal to the Antigua Recreation Ground and the 3rd test is slated to begin at 1400 hour GMT later today.

The Antigua Recreation Ground has not been used for a long time now for proper cricket matches, but was instead the venue for local football matches. The ground was in bad shape and on short notice, hasty arrangement had to be made to put the ground in shape for it to host test cricket.  There may be one great positive emerging out of the shifting of the venue of the England-West Indies Test. Local support was glaringly missing at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, with English cricket fans far outnumbeiring local West Indies support. At the Antigua Recreation Ground, that situation may happily change.

Moving onto cricket, it is sad that after a super performance from the West Indies team in the 1st test, this farce put West Indies cricket into shame. Hopefully all will be forgotten when live cricket finally begins today. Let’s hope we have a great game of cricket now.
