The Battle for the world’s no.1 Test Team begins tomorrow as the India vs South Africa Test series that was organized on a late request by the BCCI begins tomorrow with the 1st Test Match at Nagpur. While India will have the home advantage, they will stand handicapped by a number of injuries. Most importantly India will miss the services of Rahul Dravid who has stood like a wall for his team and has been the most important factor in India’s test victories in the past decade. Now there is news that VVS Laxman may also not be able to make it due to injury. If that were to happen, India’s middle order will appear new and brittle. Yuvraj Singh is also out.
For South Africa the chief weapons will be their pacers – India will find a tough challenge in the form of Morkel and Steyn. If Sehwag and Gambhir can give India a solid start things will be good, else India’s irregular middle order may not be able to cope with the challenge. It has been a horrendous tour of Australia for Pakistan. They have been winless so far, and the usual and a few new controversies have dogged the team. Now Shahid Afridi has been suspended for two T20 Internationals on charges of ball tampering. God knows what he was trying to do with the ball – surely he didn’t expect to get away with it with all those cameras around.
The good thing for Pakistan is that tomorrow Australia will be playing a format of cricket they are weakest in. Ponting has already decided not to play Twenty20 Cricket and people are already saying that his replacement captain Michael Clarke is not fit for T20 cricket either. Cameron White is what they are asking for. On the other hand, Pakistan are the World T20 Cricket Champions. How badly they would want to end this tour with a win.

Pakistan’s top order failed once again against Australia in the 4th ODI being played at WACA, Perth. After a 3-0 defeat in the Test series, Pakistan failed to show any improvement in the ODIs and this will be its 4th consecutive defeat in the Commonwealth Bank Series. On the other side, Australia is confident of a clean sweep against Pakistan.
Cameron White, Michael Hussey and Nathan Hauritz did the trick for Australia in the batting. An excellent quick fire half century by Nathan Hauritz which included four sixes delighted everone who was watching the match live. Australia posted a total of 277 runs for Pakistan.
Pakistan was not able to recover from an early blow of Salman Butt. Younis Khan and Mohammad Yousuf who are struggling with their form were not able to do anything and departed quickly. Righ now, two youngsters – Umar Akmal and Fawad Alam are on the crease and it looks very difficult at the moment. Pakistan is 79/4 at the moment from 23.5 overs.
